BRAFA 2018: More Visitors than Ever

The 63rd edition of BRAFA Art Fair ended February 4, 2018 with a new record of more more than 64,000 visitors, an increase of five percent compared to last year. According to the organisers, this success goes back mainly to an increase in guests from outside Belgium. My office has operated as BRAFA’s hub in Germany since 2012 and contributes to more and more German journalists, collectors and art lovers find their way to Brussels.

Audience Development

How to engage new and more diverse audiences? This is the great challenge of cultural institutions today. Audience research shows that only very few people in Germany participate in publicly financed art and culture. However, no matter if financed publicly or privately, art and culture need an audience, today and in the future.

RUHR.2010 European Capital of Culture

Representing a region of 53 cities with more than 5.3 million inhabitants, the city of Essen was the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 in 2010. I managed international media and public relations at RUHR.2010 and served as the international spokesperson. In this way I contributed to building the RUHR.2010 brand internationally.

Cultural Exchange Year

In an interdisciplinary festival of contemporary arts in 2012, artists from Poland and the land of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) present themselves to a broad public. „Klopsztanga”, the carpet rail (Silesian-German: “Klopfstange“), a traditional a meeting point for young people in Polish neighbourhoods, served a the symbol for the inter-cultural encounter.
